You Don’t Need Power to Create Art

I love all things that use the power of electricity, my laptop, radio, tv; I love it all. I don’t even want to remember time before the internet. So, yesterday when my apartment in Sacramento lost power for a few hours, due to a thunderstorm, I was lost. I looked around in my apartment, lit by the sun only, and it came to me… Monday I had watched a video demonstration by Kelly Donovan of KnittingAndThings.com, on creating an art journal with inexpensive items, or items you could find around your house. Thankfully, I hadn’t taken out my recycling yet, so right at the top I saw a cereal box. Perfect! I found some ribbon, paint, and grabbed some smaller prints of my photographs I had on hand. I starting creating! I was having so much fun, I didn’t even think of my cut off from electricity. I must say I’m surprised it took the power being out to get myself going, but now I can’t stop, and I’m excited to make another page to my new journal today! Thanks Kelly for your inspiration. The pictures of my powerless project are below.

My 1st page.
